Nine Years Later

Welcome to the Frazcave, my digital den!
I’m Frazcake, a software developer exploring the fine art of doing everything and nothing all at once. This is where I share what I build, break and occasionally get right.
Hello, cave dwellers!
This is the first post on my blog. No grand announcements, no “10 reasons why you should read me”.
Just a quick story about why I’m doing this and why this little corner of the internet exists.
The idea of starting a blog has been with me for a long time. It goes back to 2017, when I was volunteering at the local observatory, helping modernize the dome (you’ll read more about it in the future).
I was 23, studying, jobless and (most important) still decent at Rocket League! Back then I wanted a technical blog, a place to share what I was learning and the small projects I was working on. Of course, I never actually followed through.
Almost nine years later, for some reason, the spark came back. I had already set up this blog months ago and it was dangerously close to becoming yet another half-finished project.
What made the difference this time was a push from something I care deeply about: a project I’m building with my friend Tommaso (aka cippaciong).
Our rule is simple: whatever we create, we have to genuinely enjoy it.
That’s when I realized a blog could finally make sense. I’ve never been a fan of social media (and probably never will be), but I’m also learning that if you want to share what you build with the world, you need to be where people can actually find it.
So yes, I’ve started setting up some accounts too (@Frazcake), not because I enjoy scrolling endlessly, but because I want a place to push the products we’re working on.
What do I want from all this? A bit of everything:
- A personal outlet, almost therapeutic.
- The satisfaction of turning a blank page into something alive.
- The chance to write in English (I’m Italian, so this will be good practice).
- Above all, a way to keep moving forward. Once you start putting things out there, it gets harder to just drop them, hopefully.
I don’t want this to be only about tech. Some posts will be personal, some project-related, some completely random. Basically, whatever I feel is worth sharing.
So that’s it: the beginning. If one day I look back at this post and cringe, I’ll take it as a good sign, it means I’ve grown.
Next up, I’ll share how I actually built this blog, along with a gentle reminder not to procrastinate (a lesson I keep relearning).
My motto from now on: “Just Do It”, even when it’s messy, even when it’s not perfect.
Thanks for reading.
Now, back to your cave. This one’s mine.
